CT Scan: Abdomen (2018)

What is a CT scan of the abdomen?

It sounds like doctors are saying a CAT scan, but they're using the initials C and T for computerized tomography. CT scans are x-rays that take many images - like layers - that help doctors measure the size and position of what they're looking for.

Why have a CT scan of the abdomen?

An abdominal CT lets doctors look at the belly and pelvis to see if there are abnormal growths, cancer, injuries or infections.
